Boat Rental Agreement & Safety Regulations

1. Delivery and Receipt The lessee receives the vessel having first ensured that it is equipped with all the essential safety equipment required by the General Port Authority (Article 45) and is fully satisfied that the boat is in perfect working order and fit for its intended purpose. The lessee is obliged to return the vessel to the original point of receipt (harbour), with all parts and accompanying equipment intact and in the exact condition it was received, in accordance with the checklist.

2. Insurance Cover The vessels of Plakias Finikas Rent a Boat are fully insured for physical injuries and material damage occurring as a result of a third-party collision, as required by Greek law. The insurance provides full coverage for amounts over €600.

3. Theft, Damage & Towing The lessee is obliged to fully compensate the Lessor (Baradakis Nikolaos) in the event of theft (whole or partial), loss, or damage to the vessel. If it becomes necessary to tow the boat due to mishandling or negligence on behalf of the lessee, the towing cost is set at €6.50 per mile of distance towed.

4. General Terms & Conditions

  • The lessee is obliged to exercise full caution with the craft and keep it in excellent condition at all times.
  • The Lessor holds no responsibility for any loss or damage to the lessee’s personal property during the lease.
  • Returning the craft prior to the agreed expiration of the lease does not entitle the lessee to any form of refund.

5. Strict Safety Rules & Lessee Obligations By renting the vessel, the lessee expressly accepts and agrees to the following mandatory safety rules:

  1. NO Alcohol/Drugs: Do not pilot the craft under the influence of alcohol or narcotic substances.
  2. Passenger Limit: Do not allow more than the maximum permitted number of individuals to board the craft (Maximum: 6 passengers).
  3. Seating Safety: Do not allow passengers to sit or stand on the gunwale (edges) of the craft.
  4. No Dangerous Maneuvers: Always operate the boat with care and avoid reckless navigation.
  5. Swimmer Distances (Marked): Do not sail the craft at a distance of less than 200 meters from the floating buoys that indicate swimming limits.
  6. Swimmer Distances (Unmarked): In areas without floating buoys, do not sail at a distance of less than 300 meters from points where swimmers usually gather.
  7. Sole Operator: Do not allow any unauthorized persons to pilot the craft.
  8. Port Speed Limit: The lessee must sail at a maximum speed of 3 knots when inside ports or navigating through areas with swimmers.
  9. Hazard Avoidance: The lessee must take extreme care to avoid rocky areas or zones that pose a danger to passengers or the vessel.
  10. Designated Return: The lessee must return the craft exclusively to the designated point of receipt.

6. Jurisdiction & Port Authority Compliance This agreement is drawn up in accordance with Greek law. Any dispute arising between the Lessor and the lessee is subject exclusively to the Greek judicial authorities. Furthermore, the lessee assumes all obligations deriving from applicable maritime legislation and must comply with all specific provisions, decisions, and instructions of the local Coastguard regarding movement, anchoring, and safety equipment.
